What is Music & Giggles?
“Music is the language of the heart without words” By Shinichi Suzuki.
Based on the teaching method of pedagogue and violinist, Shinichi Suzuki, The Music & Giggles program is much more than music. Each class is carefully designed and focused on the development of the whole child. The program promotes cognitive development, social-emotional skills, body and motor development, math and logic skills, socialization with other children and families, and to develop their interest in the Portuguese language, using traditional Brazilian folk songs in a calm and nurturing environment.
Classes are developed through Brazilian nursery rhymes, spoken speech patterns, action songs, finger play, circle songs, story telling, instrument playing and other musical activities.
Designed as a pre-instrumental program, this class is the perfect preparation for more formal music lessons, as well as a wonderfully complete experience in itself.
This class introduces several key music concepts, assists the development of pitch, rhythm and beat, dynamics (loud and soft), number skills and counting, co-ordination (fine and gross motor), observation skills, concentration, taking turns and sharing, self discipline and self control, listening and sequencing skills and memory.
Children are usually quite ready to begin learning a musical instrument by the time they are 4 or 5 years old. Many activities in this program are specifically designed with the future in mind as well as a preparation for school.
